It seems we can either ignore our mstakes and keep making the same ones over and over again, or learn from our mistakes and keep making new ones. There isn’t a third option where we can learn from our mistakes and that’s the end of making mistakes.

As a kid I envisioned the future as a place where, after crossing some nebulous adult boundary, we’d finally learn what we needed to know about living and could just go about the business of creating functional, mistake-free lives. I would say it took me an unusually long time to come to terms with the reality of that situation … if I have.
